Liceo Paritario Teatro Nuovo existed as an official high school in 1969. Then, in 1998 it started working with Fondazione Teatro Nuovo (a theater). In 1995 it also officially became a dance school and in 1998 a theater school. Starting from year 2000-2001 it became a 'Scuola Paritaria' (officially recognised by a Ministerial Decree), the only one in the Piemonte region in this field, it was awarded a quality certificate UNI EN ISO 9001 Ed. 2000. Today there are three departments in the highschool: Artistic highschool for scenography (designing settings), Artistic highschool for scenography for theater, Highschool for music and dance. Students get general education as well as specialise in one of the three fields.
The highschool offers training based on the long experience of Teatro Nuovo in the pedagogy of dance, theater and scenography and also gives cultural and professional training to students who study dance and acting. Teachers are also professionals who dance in famous dance companies, or are professional actors recognized by their peers. Professional shows are regularly hosted by the highschool (one theater : 1000 seats, a huge stage with an orchestra pit) giving students the opportunity to meet full-fledged artists.
Students are recruited nationally. They come from all kinds of social backgrounds. Their daily work with professional artists and performers gives them great maturity on stage. Some will work in advertising or design others in the show business or will become dance teachers.
