Scoala Profesionala Speciala "Ion Pillat", Dorohoi
Special Professional School “Ion Pillat" is a school for pupils with special educational needs situated in Dorohoi, Botosani County, a city in the North - East of Romania. Our school has 239 pupils aged between 6 and 19 years old and 59 teachers and offers educational and therapeutic activities specific to students with mental disabilities (minor, medium and severe) from primary education, lower-secondary and vocational education.
The mission of our school is the comprehensive and individualized approach to children with SEN by identifying, valuing and fostering of all abilities and willingness, either existing or potential (cognitive, language, psychomotor, affective–relational and social-adaptive).
About 50% of our students come from socially-disadvantaged families and are attending school in boarding scheme, while another 50% come from foster care centers. The staff of our school are permanently interested in carrying out various extracurricular activities in order to offer valuable learning opportunities for all students, to increase motivation , self-confidence and, over all, their chances to better integrate in society and thus, have a better life .
Our institution has experience in developing projects both at European and local level. We developed a large number of partnerships with public institutions, NGOs, schools in the region and in the country; an ERASMUS + , KA2, Strategic Partnerships for Schools Only: „NO to Discrimination and Social Exclusion" (2016-2018) and COMENIUS Multilateral school partnership: ”Art, sports and literature against violence at school” on the theme of preventing violence in school; (2012-2014) We benefit from well qualified staff , good cooperation with local institutions and a good promotion of our activities on local sites , newspapers and our internet school site : http://specialadorohoi.scoli.edu.ro
